Elizabeth and Sean

The day started off great.  Everyone was in great spirits as they were getting married.  The weather was a little cloudy, but nice and cool.  Elizabeth gave Sean a card, telling him how much she loved him and that she was ready to start their lives together.  It was a very nice moment that I was able to capture for Elizabeth to be able to see later.

Elizabeth and Sean got married at Top of the Town Reception and Conference facility in Arlington, VA.  In terms of views, there are not many that are better.  The location consists of two large rooms that both overlook the District of Columbia.  It also has a great, large balcony with the same views.  The balcony is perfect for photos and although we didn't get a sunset that day, we were still able to get a lot of great photos.

It overlooks the skyline of Washington, DC with immediate views of the Iwo Jima memorial.  In the background, you can see all the way back to the Washington Monument.  All of the guests were in awe of the view, which put everyone in a great festive mood.

I love details shots and I love photos that look beautiful in black and white.  This wedding had both.  From the letter that Elizabeth gave to Sean while he was getting ready, to the wine glasses lined up on the table, to the beautiful cake with details of monuments around the DC, MD. VA area.

The first dance was great.  Elizabeth and Sean looked into each other's eyes the whole time and I'm sure they forgot that anyone else was there in that moment.  It's beautiful to see and makes for incredibly genuine photos.

One last thing that made this wedding really cool is the Pittsburgh Cookie Table.  It is something that I encountered about five years ago the first time and have been able to enjoy about four times over my photography career.  You can literally smell the sugar as you are walking up to the table.  You can't beat that!

I’ve shot at this location twice and I hope to shoot there again soon.  The people who run it are great to work with.  It photographs well and it helps with getting great photos for the bride and groom that I am working with.
