Amanda and Steven were married in the fall in Virginia. It was an overcast day, but everyone was happy to be there to celebrate the wedding that they had been waiting for, for a long time. The getting ready shots moved along easily, with lots of laughing and joking around. The mood was very light and everyone was ready to have fun.

The couple was married at the Semper Fidelis Memorial Chapel in Triangle, VA. Semper Fidelis, or Semper Fi is the Marine Corps motto of Always Faithful. One of the things I love about photographing weddings is getting to go new places. As many times as I have driven down I 95 into Virginia, I had never noticed this place, but I see it every time I pass it now.

This was a small chapel just outside of the Marine Corps Museum and it was extremely beautiful. It was a great selection by the couple. The walls were all glass, so you could see the beauty of the fall leaves in the background as the ceremony progressed.

From there, we headed to the reception at Regency at Dominion Valley, in Haymarket, VA. Amanda and Steven are very into board games and I can imagine that they spend a lot of evenings with family and friends sharing intense games and laughs. To honor this, they did something I have never seen at a wedding before. They set up multiple tables with their favorite games, so that their guests could enjoy them as well. That was a lot of fun for me to see as everyone really got into them throughout the day.

However, the highlight game was Pictionary. Amanda drew for Steven’s family and Vice Versa. The clue was a movie title… Four words… The answer: She’s Having a Baby! This was Amanda and Steven’s way of announcing the pending arrival of their child. The day turned into a double celebration that no one will forget.
