Kanika and John's wedding got off to an eventful start. They were married at Celebrations By the Bay in Pasadena, MD. It's a great location on the Chesapeake Bay that I go to often for weddings. It can accommodate multiple weddings at once and that is where the day got eventful. John was getting ready in one of the houses off the main event area. I got there and he was with another photographer already. It was a bit of a surprise to both of us to see another photographer. I asked him what his bride's name was and at that point we realized that there were two Johns getting married on the property on the same day. The poor guy was with the wrong one.

The rest of the day went smoothly. I got some great photos of John and Kanika getting ready. I saw a bunch of these photos as black and white while I was shooting them and I loved the way they ended up. I was able to get some shots using mirrors in both of the getting ready rooms. Mirrors are one of my favorite elements to use in a photo and I try to take advantage of them every chance I get.

It finally came time for the ceremony. It was a warm sunny day with a beautiful blue sky. Kanika and John were married under a trellis that was beautifully decorated. They had lots of friends and family around and the ceremony was full of memories of the couple as their journey together finally made its way to the wedding day. At the end of the ceremony, Kanika and John jumped the broom and they were officially a married couple!

As the guests made their way in for cocktail hour, we got started on family photos. Before long, it was time for the bridal party to make their way into the tent for the reception. Kanika and John's first dance was amazing and before long, John had grabbed a microphone and was singing to Kanika as they finished up the dance. Speeches followed and dinner was served.

As the reception moved into the party, John changed into a different suit. A little while later, I took him and Kanika back into the bridal suite for a few quick photos. One of the ones we got there has become one of my all time favorites in the time that I have been shooting weddings. I know Kanika and John are very happy and they are going to be a great couple for many years to come.
